December 14, 2011 ACE Board Meeting

- Call to Order: Board Members present were: Alan Sipes, Columbus; Mark Brajcich, Red Lodge; Brent Lipp, Canyon Creek; Jennifer Hickok, New Day; Bill Phillips, Bridger

- Approval of November 30, 2011 minutes: Mark Brajcich made the motion, Brent Lipp seconded. Motion passed 5-0
- ACE Bill Pay: Brent Lipp made the motion, Bill Phillips seconded. Motion passed 5-0
- Social Studies Curriculum: Sample Drafts: Andrea Fischer shared sample drafts of the K-12 ACE Social Studies curriculum. The group will meet again to go through the alignment process. Requests were made to develop assessments and units to follow the curriculum. In the fall of 2012 the group will meet again to go through the ELA Common Core to deconstruct the History/Social Studies portion.
- OPI Common Core Workshop Summary: Andrea Fischer attended the workshops in Helena. The second day was for those that wish to become facilitators/trainers for the beginning stages of implementing the Common Core. Lorrie Henrie - Koski would also be available for overview trainings, as well as Allison Nys from Pioneer. OPI shared many resources that will prove useful to ACE and school districts. ACE will begin their implementation process on January 5th with the Administrator Overview session and January 10th for the Teacher Overview session. The remaining dates are Jan. 17th - K-4; Jan. 31st - 5th - 8th, and Feb. 7th - 8th for 9 - 12. ACE is focusing on Math first. ACE will also be collaborating with MRESA 3 to help provide trainings to member schools.
- Collaborative Learning Curriculum Mapping Software: Andrea will work on setting up webinar sessions with Collaborative Learning and the other curriculum software companies sometime between Jan. - Feb. for those members who are interested in this software for their districts.
- Did You Know..: Andrea shared an informative brochure created to share with both member and non-member schools regarding ACE membership and what ACE has to offer. The brochure will be posted on the website.
- Other: Lockwood's school board approved joining ACE. Wyola Public Schools has expressed interest in joining ACE as well.
- OPI will be hosting webinars on wrap-around services for mental health providers with the focus on continuing to help keep students who benefit from these services in schools.
