ACE Technology - Year 2 Master Teacher commitments & responsibilities
Grant Overview:
The ACE TECHNOLOGY grant is one of 6 federally funded Partnerships for Student Academic Achievement Through Technology (PSATT) Grants awarded by OPI in May which emphasize technology professional development. The grants awarded represent nearly 40 schools of over 100 schools that were represented in the application process. The Partnerships for Student Achievement Through Technology (PSATT) Grants are funded by Enhancing Education Through Technology (Ed Tech) Title II, Part D of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as Amended by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001.
Liz Cunningham of T.E.S.T. wrote the ACE TECHNOLOGY grant for schools in the area. Applicant schools had to meet high poverty levels, demonstrate high technology need, and have a compliant Tech Plan. The following schools met these qualifications and elected to participate as a partner in the ACE TECHNOLOGY grant:

Grant Goals:
- To improve the technology literacy of teachers and students
- To improve the capacity of teachers to effectively and efficiently integrate technology into the curriculum and instruction
- To improve student academic achievement through the effective use of technology in teaching and learning with a primary focus on math and reading.
Grant Summary:
-One Master Teacher (Master Teacher = MT) selected from each represented School District
-Master Teachers complete Intel summer training
-Master Teachers provide Intel training to Participating Teachers at respective school district
-Master Teachers attend Cohort meetings
Master Teacher Responsibilities:
- Attend Intel Training – July 31st – August 4th, 2006 (approx. 40+ hours) in Bozeman, MT and create tech integrated lesson(s) to be implemented during school year
-Course offered to for 40 OPI credits or 3 graduate credits - not paid by grant
-Stipend and travel/lodging will be paid
- Be familiar with and follow guidelines of district Technology Plan and Acceptable Use Policy
- Use Montana Standards and Benchmarks in your classroom lessons and reinforce the use of standards in school district
- Learn and use technology provided by grant in your classroom
- Coordinate and provide 24 hours of training to school staff (Participating Teachers = PT) and assist teachers to create tech integrated lesson(s) to be implemented during school year -Stipend paid
- Attend 3 all-day cohort meetings throughout each school year for additional technology training
- and provide training about cohort topic to district staff -Substitute & travel paid
- Participate in Grant Showcase
-Stipend & travel paid
- Coordinate schedules for Technology Mentor on-site visits
- Perform basic maintenance on grant equipment & notify grant management of technical problems immediately
- Complete grant activity paperwork, reporting and other information as requested or necessary
- Understand that lessons and work created through the grant is property of the grant
- Assist with providing schedules, emails, notices, claim forms, credit info and other paperwork or information as needed to district teachers and/or administration
- Help coordinate/administer district TAGLIT Assessment
- Help coordinate/administer district OPI Technology Self-Assessment surveys
- Help coordinate/administer district NWREL survey
- Participate in interviews conducted by grant’s internal and external evaluators
- Work with Project Director and Project Coordinator to complete any weekly, monthly or semester grant responsibilities and commitments
